LADDIE
9-year-old un-neutered male
Our very special, sweet
Laddie is looking for a
forever family worthy of his gentle, loving devotion.
It's hard to imagine how anyone could leave him! He is a
loving, laid back boy with gentle eyes who was born with
an abnormal front leg that never completely formed.
Laddie was turned in by his
owner because they could no longer care for him. He
lived as an outside dog for 9 years until coming to his
foster home. Unfortunately, Laddie
is heartworm positive and has already begun his
treatment. He will also be neutered shortly. Keeping
him calm for the next couple of months as he undergoes
the rest of his treatments won't be difficult because of
his mellow, laid back personality. You might expect a
dog who has never experienced being an inside pet to
have behavior issues while adjusting to his new
lifestyle. Quite to the contrary!
Laddie is the perfect gentleman. He is completely
housebroken and has no behavior issues.
Laddie was very depressed
for the first couple of weeks with his foster family. He
has only just begun to show signs of feeling happy and
comfortable. When he's feeling especially happy, he
likes to showcase his hidden talent of "singing" - or
howling. He enjoys it when you sing to him because he
loves to chime right in! Laddie's
disability does slow him down a bit. He gets around by
hopping using his 3 good legs, but it's very exhausting
for him. Sadly, Laddie has
never experienced a nice long leash walk because hopping
for extended periods of time is just too exhausting. He
is unstable on non-carpeted floors, and stairs are
almost impossible. He can manage one or two steps, but
anything more than that is very scary and difficult for
him. A perfect forever home for our special
Laddie would be a one-level
home with mostly carpet throughout. His ideal forever
family would be slower paced and laid back -- just like
Laddie! He is awesome with
other dogs, cats and children of all ages.

CARAMEL
("Mel") 9-10 year old neutered
male
Caramel "Mel" is a 9-10yr old golden mix. Caramel
is very loving and learns quickly from his foster brother.
He is fully housebroken but needs to be let out at pretty
regular times. He has been left in the house up to 9 hours
with no accidents. He reliably comes when called and knows
the commands Sit and Come. He is small, currently weighing
47 lbs and expected to be healthy at 55lbs. He currently
has a case of mild anemia which is being treated with vitamins,
love and care. He can be skittish when first meeting someone
but learns to trust and love quickly. He will follow you
from room to room and loves to sit in your lap. Caramel
gets very nervous on a leash or in the car but we continue
to expose him to both. Caramel will need a fenced in yard
with owners who will not leave him outside on his own for
very long as he loves to be with you. He has encountered
children and loves the attention they give but would do
best with children that understand he is easily startled.
Caramel would love to be your one and only love but he is
currently living and learning to share the attention with
his current foster doggie brother. He still forgets that
he gets food in his bowl and will try to get in the trash
if he smells food, but does respond well to a verbal "no".
Mel is a pretty quiet guy but will bark to let you know
it is time for breakfast/dinner or if he needs to go outside.
Mel is wonderful boy in search of a loving home. Mel will
be neutered when he is no longer anemic.

NAYA
10-year-old spayed female
Naya is 10 year
old spayed female golden oldie. She's a very gracious lady
– housebroken with great leash manners, and does well with small
children and other dogs. A true retriever at heart, she loves balls
and is even happier playing in the water. She is housebroken.
Her two flaws are that she likes to chase cats and is deathly afraid
of thunder storms. If you're looking for a laid back golden
who is up for weekend adventure, then Naya is the girl for you!

SEQUOIA
6-year-old spayed female
Sequoia
is very special girl in need of a very special owner! She
turned in after being left in an empty house where someone came
by to feed her about once a week. She was bone thin and may have
recently had puppies, in spite of all this she is the most gentle,
loving dog you'll ever meet. She is very easy going and doesn't
have high energy. When we first got her she was having cluster
seizures 2-3 times a week. Since starting and adjusting to
her medication, that number has been reduced to about 3 seizures
a month. While it is very hard to watch such a sweet girl
go through these grand mal seizures, she does recover completely
within about 5-10 minutes. She gets along great with other
dogs and cats, as not much seems to rile her. She is a girl
who would also do just as well as the only dog with a loving owner.
Kids don't faze her and she loves to be hugged and belly rubbed
by her foster family's kids. She eats well and although
she has had a couple of accidents (we think mostly due to her seizure
meds) she is mostly housebroken and can be left alone for long periods
of time. She loves to ride in a car. Sequoia is a beautiful
light colored girl with eyes that will melt your heart. She
is very special and we hope to find an equally special forever home
for her.

SUKEY
5-year-old spayed female
Sukey
is pretty dark red girl that like most Goldens, just wants to be
loved. She is her foster mom's shadow and doesn't let you
out of her sight for long. She is housebroken and can be left
with full run of the house for up to 9 hours with no problem.
Sukey knows "sit" reliably; things like "down", "come" and "off"
are a little spotty but her foster mom thinks she's just a little
selective when it comes to commands she doesn't want to do.
Some formal training with her new family would benefit both parties,
as Sukey needs to know right away that the humans in the house are
alpha. Sukey will play with other dogs but she can be very
toy aggressive (and she can tear a toy apart in no time).
A good supply of nylabones will keep her busy and occupied.
She will only retrieve a ball or Frisbee so she can carry it off
and chew it apart; retrieving for the sake of it holds no appeal
for her. Her foster mom can take toys away with no problem,
but if another dog even gets close to her when she has a toy it
becomes an issue. For this reason it would be best if she
were an only dog. Sukey has no health issues except that she
is a few pounds overweight (but not alarmingly so). She will
finish her food and then check out the other dog's bowls for anything
left and a submissive dog who stands back and lets her have at it
will find themselves a little short on dinner if they don't eat
fast enough! Sukey would be fine with a family that has children
or anyone who wants to give her lots of love and attention.
She is untested with cats but she completely ignores the squirrels
in the yard so she doesn't seem to have a high prey drive.

TALLY
14-year-old spayed female
Tally is a "doggy"
senior citizen with a lot of pep. She endlessly enjoys going for
walks and car rides. Take out a leash and she is ready! She'll outlast
YOU! Don't open a car door unless you are
ready to take Tally for a ride!! She'll jump right in! Amazingly,
she is very, very active for a "doggy" senior citizen. She'll greet
you bouncing and twisting after being left alone any length of time.
Incredibly, she leaps up and down steps – even skipping steps!!
Tally loves older children. She fell in love with a 9 year old neighbor
after she took Tally for a walk. Didn't want her to go home!
She would enjoy middle aged or older children who know to
be gentle with her. She'll affectionately
lay her head on your lap for you to love her. She can even be coaxed
to jump up in your lap for a hug. Tally will also gently lick you
to show her appreciation. She minds very well. She does not get
on furniture unless invited, goes to the door to go out, barks quietly
to come back in. She stays at home while her foster family works
without difficulty and is housebroken.
She shakes both paws for a treat and loves ice cream!!! Tally is
the dog for you if you want a loving, sweet, active older companion.
Tally was a little slow to warm up to her Golden foster sister,
as she wants all the attention and to be in charge!
However, with a little time they now do fine together.
She does not get along with cats and tries to chase them.
